Meet the characters!
Quint
Quintinius Verginix is also known by his sky-pirate name, Cloud Wolf. He is the son of Orlis (Wind Jackal) and grew up in a large house in the Western Quays district of Undertown.
With his black hair and dark, indigo eyes, Quint cuts a dashing figure. He’s brave and noble, prepared to lay down his life for those who matter most to him: father, wife and crew.
He can, however, be unswerving in his judgement, prepared to punish harshly those who cross him. He and Linius’s daughter, Maris, have a son together, Twig.
Celestia
The daughter of Blatch Helmstoft, she grew up in a mansion and learned healing skills from her mother. Her skills helped care for Cade when he was injured during a storm, and they later married.
Together they rescued her father when he was held captured by the White Trogs.
She is most at home in her beloved Deepwoods, and can usually be seen wearing green leather clothes.
Maris
Maris is one of the most popular characters in the Edge chronicles, she’s the mother of Twig, and is married to Quint. She is a great explorer and set off on lots of adventures with Quint.
She is known for her bravery, and had a turbulent childhood after being raised by cruel guardians after the death of her father.
Cade
Cade is the son of Thadeus and Sensa Quarter, his father is a senior academic on the Cloud Quarter of the Free Glades and passed his love of academia and learning onto Cade.
He is forced to leave his city home and settles in the Farrow Ridges, where despite being a ‘pampered city boy’, he is able to survive, and thrive, in the wild.
One of his most precious possessions is a spyglass engraved with the initials NQ, which he learns belonged to his half-uncle, Nate Quarter.
Cloud Cruiser
Cloudcruisers are the fastest phraxships in the Edgelands. They have long prows that look like beaks and are protected from enemy fire with armoured sterns.
They aren’t just fast and armoured, they are known for looking magnificent with their sleek design.
Twig
Although he has a Sanctaphrax name, Arborinus Verginix, Quint’s son is known by all simply as Twig. Raised by woodtrolls in the Deepwoods, his black hair, green eyes and fine features set him apart from his adoptive family.
Having left the Deepwoods, he joins the crew on board his father’s sky pirate ship and, years later, becomes a sky pirate captain himself indeed one of the greatest Edge sky pirate captains of all time.
He falls in love with Sinew, a slaughterer, and together they have a daughter, Keris. Like his father, Twig is brave, helpful and fiercely loyal, always going out of his way to do what he knows to be right.
